Catching Up

Where has the time gone? It is almost the end of November, and here we are. It has gone my so fast. Let's see, we've bought a house, moved, sold a house, got new jobs, started a new chapter, and are looking to the new year (already!). Here's what we've been up to:

...Playing at our new park...

...Starting a new school...

...Paint Lauren's closet orange...

...and...

...Trick or treated!
But most of all, we have had a good time.

Our new house (hopefully!)

Here is the house we are hoping to move into. We are really excited because it is on a horse-shoe shaped street with a cul-de-sac around the corner. There is no traffic whizzing by on a regular basis! The girls will be able to ride their bikes outside and we won't worry about them getting hit. It has a bigger backyard than our Moore house, and the house itself is comparable size-wise. The one challenge with it will be updating it and making it our own. We will need to do the floors and walls very soon, hopefully before we fully move in. It will be great!

Summer

As I looked at my blog, I realized that I hadn't updated it since May. Well, summer is here and we are in it full swing. I resigned from my preschool job, almost finished remodeling a bathroom, had a week of no children, started a loan for a house in Woodward, said goodbye to my best friend for the summer, and have endless days of girl-ness, both good and bad. Right now they are both asleep in my bed, looking like angels with a snoring pug. The girls have had play-dates, a slumber party, attended two VBS sessions, played with pugs daily, and went fishing. And the adventure continues...

Hagrid is here!

Yesterday was Lauren's birthday, and we promised her a puppy a while back. She wanted a black pug named Hagrid, and here he is! He is eleven weeks old. He's been with us for almost a week now and we had forgot how much puppies like to chew, pee, and yelp! Hagrid's favorite things are fingers, hair, and pillows, as Lauren says. She absolutely loves him! He is beginning to follow her around and is learning he belongs to her. They are having a really good time!

Woodward

There is a change coming to the Law household. We are moving! After living in the same house for ten years (a record), we will be putting the house on the market, packing up our stuff, our dogs, turtles, fish, and the children and moving to Woodward, Oklahoma. For those of you who do not know where Woodward is, it is 2 1/2 hours northwest of Oklahoma City. Woodward has about 11,000 people, so it is a smaller town. Why, you ask? Because Allen is working at Woodward hospital. He seems to like it so far, and we are intending to stay there a while. It has all the important things that we require: a job, a LCMS church, lots of parks, opportunities for the girls and good schools. We are all sad to leave our friends and family that live here, but we all think it will be a good thing for our family. It will happen sometime during the summer after school is out. We've gone up and looked around, checked out schools and even looked at a few houses. We've picked one out, but we haven't put a bid on it yet. Hopefully we'll be able to do that soon. In the meantime, here are some pictures of our trip up there during Spring Break.

Here we are!

Hello. My friend Link and I are the newest additions to the Law household. We came to live with them around Christmas. By the way, my name is Cuff. Our people think we are pretty cool. They made us this neat-o log house to bask and swim through. We think it's awesome! We can swim between the pillars, lay on top to get a little sun, and we can swim right through it. That's my favorite thing to do. Then Link can't nip at me as easy. He gets a little feisty sometimes. What we really like to do besides swim and bask is eat! Every time one of our people comes close, we follow them back and forth and splash around until they feed us. Sometimes it works, others, not so much. Being a turtle is good.

The Tradition Lives On!!

As we were growing up, my dad (otherwise known as Poppa J.) always ate a bowl of cereal after supper before he went to bed. Joscelyn was spending some time with us, and I looked around, and everyone was eating a bowl of cereal after supper, just like Poppa J.! It was a perfect blog entry in the making:

Allen

This post is about my husband, Allen. During Thanksgiving he was gokarting with his friends and had a little accident. He was mainly fine, but had a dislocated elbow and a broken thumb--one on each arm, of course. Well, the elbow healed up fine, but the thumb didn't. He had to have surgery on it to get it repaired. Today he went back to the doctor for a follow-up and was casted for the next three weeks. Here's the thumb without the cast (watch out) and with the cast, and the girls decorating it for him, so now he takes a little more of us everywhere he goes.

Hey, Guess What?

It's me Charlie! I wanted to tell you that I've started to become a little more daring. Lately I've come to enjoy taking a little snooze on Mom and Dad's bed after they get out of it in the morning. I never used to do this! I usually don't like to be on the bed more than a minute or two. But then I realized that why should I not enjoy it, especially since no one is using it? Mom thinks I'm cute.

Snow Day, January '09

Today is our first snow day for the year. Last night we got a glaze of ice that closed down school for today. At 3 am, the sleet started in full force. It was a classic ice storm, lightning and thunder included! It has sleeted or snowed off and on all day today, covering the ground with white. Our friend Allix called it snow sand because it was just like sand, only cold! We went out to play in it and it wasn't as fun as a good sticky snow. Still, it was fun to play out in the cold. The first one is Anna's snow angel. It might be hard to see.

New Year's Eve

This year Anna and Lauren stayed up with us to celebrate the new year. Last year Anna was with her friend at a slumber party, and Lauren just tuckered out before it was time. This year they were ready to go! We decided to watch a movie to pass the time. Anna is an adventure movie freak, so we watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones is one of her favorites! After that was over they got their jammies on and played until it was time. We got some sparkling grape juice for them to toast with. They thought it was really neat to use the fancy glasses to drink out of, with something bubbly in it! After we kissed and toasted, Anna declared that she liked the juice (in fact she had some with breakfast too) but Lauren informed me that, "Next year I'll have chocolate milk in the glass, Mom!" She is too funny.
