Summer Reading

I just have to say that I LOVE books! One of my absolute favorite things to do in the summer time is read, read, read! I have been this way for as long as I can remember. My mom used to take us girls to the library during the summer and I'd pick out six or seven books to read in three weeks. I usually got it done with time to spare. I have to admit that I am still the same way. Since the middle of May I've read a dozen or so, and I can't stop! Now that I've got a small library of my own, I've started to re-read things. What a treasure that is! Just to go upstairs and pick out a book is quite a luxury. I like to wait awhile to re-read a book or series so I remember it was really good, but I don't remember details. Then it's fresh and familiar at the same time. I usually read Jan Karon's Mitford series over the summer, plus I got into Jane Austen last summer, so I might have to pick up one of hers too. This year we added Harry Potter to our library, so that will be one for next year. Ahh....Summer!

Moving Day

Today was a big day for my sister, Candi. We moved her to a new home! It is called Santa Fe Place, and is about ten minutes from our house. It's right down the street from church and my school. We are all excited. She thought for a minute there that she was moving into my house, and then we turned in. She looked at it and said, "It's my house!" and was oooing and ahhing the whole time we walked through it. Candi has her own room that's right across the hall from the bathroom. I think that she likes her room, and I think she will enjoy it even more when we get it all finished. We still have a box to unload and pictures to put up, but then she'll be settled. I think we will all like having each other in our lives more often. Ten minutes travel time is so much better than an hour! Yeah, Candi!

All Hail the Queen

This post is about Daisy, our first, and of course, the queen of the house. She is now nine years old, and still as beautiful as the day we got her. Daisy is definitely the one who rules. Charlie and Penny always let her go first and look to her for leadership. She can look at us and we know exactly what she wants. We know she loves us by the look she gives us and the kisses on our hand. We just love our Daisy!

Harry Potter

Scholastic has a warehouse book sale semi-annually here in Oklahoma City. In May we went and bought the entire Harry Potter series in hardback (for an INSANE price, mind you) for the whole family. What a wonderful series! I was completely sucked in and useless pretty much since school was out. I read The Half-Blood Prince in little over a day. Now I have to wait until July to see how it all ends. The girls have enjoyed watching the movies (with some careful eye-covering on our part) too. When Allen and I both would have a book finished, we'd watch the movie. It has been great fun. If you want a good summer read, this is it. Since they are technically children's books, they are an easy read, but are intriguing enough to keep you hooked.
